The Health and Safety of Work Act 1974 is the main legislation for keeping safe in a workplace. This act puts responsibility on both employer and employee. The Employer needs to provide equipment, a safe environment etc., the employee needs to attend the courses provided and equipment.

Manual Handling regulations include PUWER (Provision of use and work equipment regulation) and LOLER (Lifting operation of lifting equipment regulations)
