Before we start this course, we will first look at what will be covered during the training. The course is dived into categories and in each category there are a number of videos. You can pause and watch again any video on the course. We update our courses regularly and you will be able to see the replacement and new videos as they are released.

You work through the course videos in order and to give you an idea of what the course will cover, the categories and videos on this course are:

Firstly, the introduction to moving and assisting of people, patient dignity, regulations, act’s and guidelines in manual handling, why and how we lift people correctly and manager duties.

Lifting safety and prevention is also covered, consisting of; assessing the individual move, back and spinal injuries, slips trips and falls, pushing and pulling and team lifting.

Demonstrations will also be included in this course to ensure you know how to safely move and position people. These demonstrations include; using handling slings, using a transfer board, slide sheets and chair to chair transport.

There is also a category consisting of falls and fall prevention. This will show you of how to assist a fallen person, prevent a fall and to assist someone walking.

In the final category, there are many demonstrations showing you how to use a turn table, a walking frame, a wheel chair, slings and using a hoist.

This course has approximately 2½ hours’ worth of video footage.
