Before we start this course, we will first look at what's covered during the training. The course is divided into categories and within each category, you will find several videos. You can pause and watch again any of the videos in the course. We update our courses regularly and you will be able to see any replacements and also any new videos as they are released. This may be an online course but if you have any questions during the course, you can contact us by phone, email, or use our online chat facility on any of our websites. You will work through the course videos in order. And now we will give you an overview of what's contained in the course. In the first section, we cover an introduction to moving and assisting of people, patient dignity, regulations, acts and guidelines in manual handling. We also look at why we have to lift people correctly and the manager's duties. Lifting safely and prevention is also covered consisting of assessing individual move, back and spinal injuries, slips, trips and falls, pushing and pulling and team lifting. Demonstrations will also be included in the course to ensure you know how to safely move and position people.

These demonstrations include using handling slings, using a transfer board, slide sheets and chair to-chair transport. There is also a category consisting of falls and fall prevention. This will show you how to assist the falling person, prevent a fall and assist someone walking. In the final category, there are many demonstrations showing you how to use turntables, walking frames, wheelchairs, slings and also using a hoist.
